What matters most on the report

  • Total lean mass helps you see whether you are preserving or building muscle through a phase of training or fat loss.
  • Regional lean mass can highlight whether one area is lagging and whether programming should shift.
  • Fat mass is more useful than body-fat percentage alone because it shows the actual amount of tissue changing over time.
  • Bone mineral density is worth noting, but clinically significant interpretation belongs with the appropriate medical professional.

How to make repeat scans useful

  • Use the same clinic when possible.
  • Keep hydration, meal timing, and recent training similar before each scan.
  • Do not schedule a follow-up scan so quickly that nothing meaningful could have changed.

How coaching uses the result

  • If bodyweight drops and lean mass also drops, the plan may need more protein, better recovery, or less aggressive energy restriction.
  • If lean mass is stable or improving, the current dose of training is probably appropriate.
  • If the result conflicts with performance, recovery, and adherence, do not let one scan overrule the full picture.
